Escaping

I am escaping.
Escaping from the darkness,
and finding my way into the light.
A place where I feel safe and secure.
A place where dreams become reality,
and reality can become dreams.
A dark force becons me into the shadows,
but I say "No!"
No, for I am never going back.
A dark force calls my name, but I do not listen.
For I have found peace and contentment,
within the light.

This Poems Story

I am eleven years old and my parents are very supportive of my choices. In fact, my father is a children's book author who hopes to be published one day. My mother encourages me to make my own choices and she will support me 100 %. How can I forget about my teacher, Mrs. Callans, who always says to write down what comes to my mind. The main inspiration for this poem was the Tiler Paries movie, For Colored Girls.
