Eventually We Fall

I am like a leaf in the wind-
I get blown around from place to place,
I crumble under the shoes of those around me
I start out strong, hanging on to the branches of people I trust
Until they let go and I fall to the ground, dead-
I lie and I wait, for others to join me
Before the storm takes me away
No one comes- I know not then
That only real friends join you in the end
I still lay there- all alone
Wondering what I have to call my own
I feel the warmth finally leaving me
As I drift away to a cold, dead silence
But I know eventually- I will grow again
