Every tree has roots

I got my loyalty from my father.
Always take care of your sister,
because she’ll always be your sister.
Be proud of your name.
You don't lie to someone you care about.

My mother taught me her love.
I'm so proud of the woman you've become.
Text me when you get there, please.
I'm not mad.
Be careful.

My sister gave me someone to care about more than myself.
I’m always on your side,
even if you're wrong.
Don't talk to him anymore.
Not to sound like mom but make sure you text me.

And despite my ego,
and all my parts that are all my own,
I know I would never be
this whole
if it weren't for all the pieces
they gave to me.
