Everything Has Changed

She used to be a happy girl,
with no worries about anything.
She used to play all day with her little brother,
but everything has changed.

Her vision became double,
and her headaches were unbearable.
The doctor said she was fine,
but the lump in her brain said otherwise.

The girl has been on the operating table five times
in less than two months.
She has had no time to recover.

Her voice is stuck in her throat;
there are tears in her eyes every day.
She has no other way to communicate her pain
besides a widened look in the eye.

One day, she will get off of that bed
and run into her parents' arms.
One day, the girl will once again be a happy girl
and have no worries about anything.
One day, she will play with her little brother.

But everything has changed.
