Expected Standards

If the mirror breaks,
Can you still see your face?
Are you covered in scars,
Do they accept who you are?

What do you see?
That is what is in the eyes of humanity.
They can't see your heart,
They don't know who you are.

Your hand is always outreached
Helping all you can reach
Hoping to give back
And one day receive

If the mirror shatters,
Will you still matter?
Are you still visible?
Are you what everyone sees as capable?

Why can't you see?
Because you are under expectation
You've lost your beauty, you're not yourself,
You're no longer unique, you're like everyone else.
