Ezekiel

Nothing here has changed, the house is still the same
It's just that I have to resist the urge to call your awesome name

Walking through the door, no scurry at my feet
No more sloppy kisses, you're not here to meet

They all call me crazy with my sorrow and my tears
But they have no idea how you got me through the years

Your silly doggie smile, the stubby wagging tail
The way you cocked your head brought a smile, never fail

Your snappy little bark when you wanted your own way
And your happy perky style that you started every day

You listened to my secrets and never told a soul
And many sleepless nights beside me you'd patrol

You'd insist upon your supper then push your bowl around
And bury all your treats never to be found

But the joy throughout the years meant time was passing by
And time will take its toll no matter what we try

My grief is overwhelming, my heart shall never mend
For now I know how great the pain of losing my best friend
