Faces We Present

I felt that I was sinking
In a hole, so deep and dark.
With no one I could talk to
Of what lie in my heart.

All the while I built the wall
So I could feel quite safe.
But now the wall encircles me
And I cannot escape.

No one on the outside
Has noticed my retreat.
A peace of safe insanity
That simple pleases me.
