Faded Memories

I see the pain in your eyes
Truth be told, it's from all the lies;
Silent, fearful, broken, and ashamed,
I ponder why?
Tumultuous years spent denying
That which you knew;
Hoping,
Waiting,
Delaying the inevitable.
Seasons come and seasons go,
Yet, you are no more;
Withering away day-by-day
The pain too unbearable to stop;
What you see today is not what you saw then;
Health, happiness, and abundance,
Where did they go?
Only distorted memories remain now;
When, where, how,
Did they come to be
I can't remember, I can't recall;
Memories come and memories go,
All that's left is a chasm of darkness
And the emptiness of faded memories.
