It's that risk
That jump
Up to the heavens.
The exhilarating rush.
The soaring
With arms outstretched.
The stomach-dropping instant
As you start to fall.
Plummeting to the ground
As heavy as a sack of destroyed dreams.
Eyes closing
Because it is inevitable, unstoppable,
The ground rushes up
As you rush down.
The moment of impact
Scatters thoughts, scrambles brains.
A thousand bricks
Settle on top of you.
And defeated.
But a finger twitches,
A muscle flexes, an eye opens,
And a battered, bruised body drags itself up.
And you are standing.
