Fall
And I know exactly when it was,
when I started to fall
it was fast but it felt right, safe.
It had only been about a week
I sat up late, clutching my phone
between my fingers.
It was much past my bedtime,
but I was resilient with red eyes
yearning for your touch kept me up.
the screen illuminated,
suddenly I was in your car
driving fast through the still summer air
I lit up the screen again, 3:38 AM
the entire city was asleep at this hour
and I was exactly where I wanted to be.
Peaked over my shoulder, just in time
to catch your grin, "what?"
"I just wanted to see your face."
