Falling

Keep talking and smiling
But never let on
That nothing is working
And everything's wrong.
You might fall forever
But why would they care,
If when you were hurting
They never were there.

A master at hiding
The pain in your head.
Your cries in the darkness
Are stifled instead.
Though inside you're longing
To reach for a hand
They'll only reject you
And misunderstand.

So keep it all quiet
And bottled inside--
They never can catch you
If never you cry.
But down in your darkness,
Look up to the light,
For one day while falling
You might learn to fly.
