False Mirrors

I will not let a mirror define me,
nor will I let it design me.
If I want to be a zero so be it.
Who or what is this mirror?
Culture?
Society?
The hour-glassed shape I'm supposed to be?
A mirror simply shows the outside
not a true human within.
A fire of love, a beating heart it does not see.
Eyelashes, a simple face?
Clothes?
Makeup?
Or my race?
My inside it does not see.
So I will not let this mirror define me.
