you'd think the fire would have died
evaporated like my lies
about how I didn't care
how I felt nothing there
but I guess the heart just knows
knows the flow of how love grows.
I mean:
it's ridiculous
this inadvertent game of cat-and-mouse
the chase we don't even initiate
but it just is too great
pulling, tugging on us both
and we just don't know
how to let go,
and maybe we even don't want to.
in the end, what are we left with
other than memories that we see differently
other than hopes we don't recognize
dreams we don't realize
affection we only internalize
because we don't know how to deal?
Do you feel what I feel?
