As I gaze into your eyes I know your love for me.
The warmth of your smile shows compassion towards me.
Sadly, we parted many years ago, and the love
and affection you show come only from a picture
I hold in my hand, a moment in time when you loved me.
We loved, we kissed, we were young and carefree.
I hold a picture of you when you were once mine.

This Poems Story
I live in Des Moines, IA with my wife, Sheryl and son, John. My interests are guitar playing and astronomy. I enjoy the creativity of putting thoughts together in the form of poetry. I intended to put a twist into this poem by starting in the past tense and turning it in to a past event with sadness and emotion. If the reader was caught by surprise then I succeeded in writing this piece of poetry. Feel free to contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org for discussion or comments.
