To a friend I write
In hopes that he will see.
A memory as plain as can be
of a day in a tree.
Of a book and a ring
A bond between you and me.
A memory as sweet as honey
of a quiet walk home.
And now so many years later
I recall the love of thee
as you brought the laughter out in me
The first words you ever did speak
I will ever hold close
But now the time has come
for me to set memories free
But in my heart they will always be
for farewell may seem like forever
and Good bye is not the end.
