Fatal Flaws

Nobody greets you at the door,
Your fist a crack of thunder as you knock
Meet the lack of hospitality of the people of Ithaca
Judge civility in the civilized,
The way they demonstrate quality
Treat newcomers as dangerous, treat them as harmless
Communicate with a stranger,
The bearer of bad news or good
The King of Courtesy is scoffed at by a sightless giant
Made blind by the likes of Nobody, favored by wisdom
His ignorance towards visitors becomes his downfall
Morality is defined by the gods themselves
Evident warning in their eyes
To turn away a wayfarer in need is to sign your will
Gift a weary traveler with necessities and wants
In turn return the favor years from now,
A skeleton begging for sustenance
Greek Xenia is formed between host and lodger
Hold him hostage, only to feel no wrath
Though hospitable is questionable
Hurt the suitors in his absence
The Prince of Sagacity will soon flaunt his welcome
