Fearing What We Can’t Rewind

When thoughts of you overflow my mind
An excited forward fears what it can't rewind
Though next to fear, an excitement stands
And mimics the perfection of our intertwining hands
That fear stems from the anticipation of when
I pretended I wasn't two steps passed then
Then (you see) marks the start of the fall
When this independent girl realized you were everything and all
(I wanted to see)
And my dreams started to dissipate
Into an apathetic glee
Because yours is all I wanted to be
And I still don't understand the entirety
Of the feelings that consumed what once was independent bliss
That became unfulfilling
After each and every kiss
So here I stand
Too humble not to fear an end
But too blinded to assess what it would take to mend
I'm too smart not to know
That I'm falling into
An abyss of love
I pray I share with you
