Feeling Trapped

These voices never desist,
More than my conscience,
They never cease,
But I'm safe because we're friends.

These unheard thoughts abandon me,
Better this way than to be heard,
It's what I deserve, I guess,
But I am safe because they are gone.

If depression equals ecstacy,
Imagine being trapped in a cell,
Shackled and tied down, sober, and
The cell catches fire and you can't escape,
Until the flame has extinguished your flesh. Ouch!

Talking to spirits, walking with ghosts,
Performing for 6, acknowledgment
And admiration.

Was I full at the time? No, stone cold sober.
Am I full now? No, but a little fed.
