The colors were drab, but in reality bright;
the fighting kept me up all night.
Seeing my mom scared was nothing new-
still, I didn't know what to do.
The pain, hurt and sorrow,
I never thought I'd make it till tomorrow.
The tears kept coming, they didn't slow.
I just wanted to pack my bags and go.
The violence stung my eyes,
wiping tears as I said my last goodbye.
The pain wasn't supposed to last;
the world was spinning too fast.
I'm trying to live day by day,
I'm starting to see the world isn't just gray.
The colors were once drab, but in reality bright.
Now the feelings are filled with light.
