Fight for Release

THUMP! THUMP!
The footsteps sounded as they walked away
They shut the doors and left me standing there numb
Oh, I wished I didn't have to go through this everyday
All I wanted was to get a house
But I got kicked out as if I were a dirty mouse

Today I went out searching again
I walked through the street and saw suck a beautiful place
Every time I approached I was threatened with a chain
Walking away at fast pace
Afraid they might lynch me
As they did to my friend, unfortunately

I made my way into the streets of Harlem
Where everything was beaten up and broken
Where everyone barely had any income
Where every corner there roamed a rodent
But the neighborhood shined bright with culture
As we all fight to remain in the structure

The sound of the saxophone traveled through the street
Seeing people dancing through the shadows
As they dance to the melody of the beat
It soared through the air like an arrow
Every building wall splashed with color
As we released ourselves from the collar
