Fight to Stand

In the face of snares
the ugly head of shallow scare
hurtful pangs of punctured merry
pangs of perforated hearts
the fight between the fear of life
and the match of courage to die
I die a million times before my death
when fear comes a 'roosting
and the ink of the pen is weary
and the head is weary
there seems no belief, no choice
a motivating tunnel, blessing void
at the end a deep allowance
deep pangs of anger, and hunger
when fear sits across my laps
to dine with me, at my table
who shall hear my clamour
when the burden of scares
ends me, and tells shattered
and alteratives alas brood
when fear fights to stand
where courage once stood.
