Fighter

My life may be broken, but I stand my ground.
My challenges come upon me without a sound.
I fight them with every ounce of my being.
I rise up to meet them in faith without seeing.
I say a prayer that you are by my side.
No matter how beaten I am to your arms I confide.
Without you my fighting seems very hollow.
Defeat to me is a very bitter emotion to swallow.
Even though we aren't together I still press on.
I lay on the ground tired awaiting the next day's dawn.
Your spirit lingers by me as I rest.
In my dreams are my memories of us at our best.
It has been years since I felt your warm embrace.
In my weakness I blamed myself after you left this place.
You are in Heaven with the angels looking down on me.
You may have suffered, but now you are truly happy.
