Fighting Life’s Inner Battles

Louder and louder they grew
like explosives,
shattered glass, scrap metal: thoughts
raining on his parade.
Inner battles, no discrimination make,
form and time may change,
but effects are much the same.
Irregular heartbeats,
Sleeplessness, undue pressure,
excessive perspiration
like a broken faucet.
His vitality once at its peak,
now sapped, unhealthy.
Fight back, my friend,
gather your armor-bearers:
self-will, integrity, forgiveness, faith
and all others fit for the fight.
Renounce the misery within,
Fight brave the solitary battle .
Remove the foe,
your enemy the mind
wants to take captive of your soul.
