Final Expression

Is this where I pretend I never saw this coming?
This must be the part where I feign ignorance
As if I never predicted this from the start
The part where i say ‘I told you so’
But it was missed amidst sounds of breaking hearts
Is this where I imagine it was all destined to happen?
Then awaken to a final expression crying a saddened laughter
The final expression of arrant transgression
Signaling the subtle shift from gentle to passive aggression
The final expression of a dark confession
Of my mosaic staining your mural
And composing the grimmest section
The final expression of recollection
Of me staring at a mirror
Staring at you
Turning away from an empty reflection
Finally accepting the final lesson
That time breaks all connections
Ours was special
But no exception
