Fire Starter

It takes only one daunting look for a flame to catch.
Every cold-hearted word urges it to grow.

A single ember from deep within,
every lie told in confidence.

Every time the glass reaches those lips,
the spark inside fights the itch.

Lashing out at the innocent,
when you deserve the consequences.

You have created this fire within myself,
and you are the only one that could possibly put it out.

Reassurance that this will cease is what I need.
Without it, this fire will overcome me.
