Fireflies

My life is a balance
Of mere joy and mere strife;
Opportunities come, then
They fade in the night
Like fireflies they flash.
I observe them so close
For the moment I chase them
They leave and I quote,
"Good comes to those who wait"
So why am I here?
For every moment I wait
I lose things most dear.
My dreams are all I have
And I've been told it's not a lot because
Money, greed and pride have taken that spot.
I have dreams of greater things
Like connecting to the heart.
I share my soul through poetry
The most priceless form of art
But in order to make them see
I must first catch opportunity.
I will never give up
Even though some will on me.
