Fisherman’s Lament

I've got a lighthouse in my heart
Scanning the oceans wondering where you are
I think you left a pair of muddy boots
But I know you're not coming back.

Sailboat, sailboat carry her
Keep her afloat and keep her warm
Give her everything she wants and more
All the things she didn't get onshore

I
have been trying
To make her
mine
I swore I had her on my
Line
But now she seems to be doing just
Fine
Just fine.

I lit a candle in the night
And looking to the moon porcelain white
I said a prayer for your safe return
But God asked “Emily, will you never learn?”

Ocean sky will you
Blow so nice?
Seafoam flow so
Fluffy white
Aphrodite to the sea she has returned
Treat her so kind
For her my heart burns

I hope she swims forever, even if she's never coming back.
