Floral Expiry

Jumping cacti
Hiding in the corner
Spring on the unsuspecting passerby
Passing by because they were enticed by flowers

Big eyes gazing at succulent petals
Anther dusting delicately
Inviting juicy stigma
Sparkling drops of hot glue
Quinacridone magenta licked with titanium white
Brushed petals like desert rhinestones
Begging to be kissed

Hand outstretched towards flora so tantalizing
Aroma sweeter than acesulfame potassium
But just underneath dazzling beauty
Lies quills so deadly they'll swell your soul

Lacking hesitation
An instant embrace
Full body contact
With pricking poison sin
Revealing a burning dead inside
Spines pierce every orifice, every corner
Growing, growing
Taking insidious root
Locked body breaks away
But covered completely in bleeding fruit
