Flowers didn’t care

The world changed overnight, but the flowers didn’t care
Humankind held its breath, but the flowers didn’t care
We stayed in our home, toiled with questions, but the flowers didn’t care

They went on, as they always do
Blooming in their glorious way
Carelessly dancing in the wind
Summoning the bees
Filling their space with vivid color

Schools closed
Restaurants closed
Stocks sank
Traffic gone
Lines formed
Masks worn
6 feet of distance

But the flowers didn’t care.
