Flowers In the Snow

As we wandered about in winter's world
Flurries around us gently swirled.
Little blobs fell out of trees
And shivered down our necks with ease.
The thought of winter's beauty here.
The still, the chill, the frosty ear
Was not a hardship to my mind.
But seasons change and rightly timed.

Time passes in this world of white.
Snow flurries drift to record height.
Tree branches fall with a mighty crash
From maples, pine and mountain ash.
Thoughts of winter changing theme--
Plowed up piles and ice the scene.
Thoughts are different, harsher yet,
A winter we won't soon forget.

Wandering now we hear the sounds
Of blowers running, making mounds
No longer soft and fluffy white,
No cotton billows in our sight.
Discordant sounds fall on our ear,
A "cabin fever" time of year.
But then, as wandering we go,
We see flowers, blooming, in the snow.
