Fly away

The broken wing of a bird
needed to be attended
and with open arms i succor.

i asked her to stay
but she flew away
“please don’t fly away”

i tried grasping on tight
to her unbound flight
but unknowingly flew back to the blue.

“don’t fly away
won’t you stay
‘till morning sprinkles dew?”

the bird not knowing why i helped
or listens to what i say,
flies away... as she may...

"won’t you stay?
don’t fly away,
please don’t fly away”

she’s on her own now, flying free
never bothering to say goodbye,
yet she knows she can always stay.

and it wounds me so
if she should fall
“please don’t fly away”

what am i saying? don’t answer me...
you've been ignoring all my pleas.
my love for you is truly what
i must honestly release.

“so go ahead and fly away,
please, fly high my friend.”

This Poems Story

all the even stanzas are meant to be indented with no space to the stanza above it. In love with someone, helping them when they are down but they never appreciating it or even cared that she was loved or wanted. She just wanted to be free. Coming into terms with myself the truth.
