Foolish Stereotypes

A woman imprisoned in cannabis
Her beau is violent, inebriated
A home of gloom, and children deemed misfits
Family from Hell, like it was fated
Society is but cruel bigotry
I'm told I have no choice but to follow
the footsteps of my "damaged" family
I am condemned to a life of sorrow
They believe I can't help but notice
and absorb bad influence and heartaches
I laugh for it is quite the opposite
I do notice-and learn from their mistakes
and hope that perhaps by chance, just maybe
this time, the apple falls far from the tree
