Footsteps

It gushes
Like a geyser
That feeling that ebbs
With each orbit of the earth
Like dew evaporating
On a meadow
Or snow softening to trickles
After nimbi fade.
It comes abruptly
Triggered by a sight, a scene,
A word...
That spontaneity
When casting aside pretense:
And I imagine I'm back there again
Retracing my footsteps to the past.
