For a Moment

I saw the stars cross my mind
And for a moment I held one in my hand
It radiated heat that flowed like running water,
Pouring out of my hand
An aura like no other,
Hard to understand

I held it for just a moment
Before it tried to jump away
Reaching farther into space
Reaching towards fellow stars
But for a moment I held it in my hand

A lovely, burning flame of ever-flowing fire
I held it in my hand
And watched it sparkle, flicker, and crack
I held it right in my palm
And felt its happiness
Its sadness

For just a moment, I held a star
A world of its own
Burning with life, a fire ever-flowing
Until it jumped away
But for a moment it did stay
Within my grasp's reach.
