For the Kids
Arriving home she changes and prepares to relax, or so it seems.
She gets comfortable in the sofa, picks up her computer,
turns it on and prepares to . work.
Waits for her dinner to appear next to her.
While she opens a file, the internet downloads a file.
Sure enough her dinner appears as it has for many a day, evening,
Any time she has a question about her software, internet connection,
or computer powering off.
She calls on that one person that has been
her companion for many years to solve that problem,
sitting and watching and awaiting her call,
wondering why she does all that work.
Once, being asked the question, she simply responded, "for the kids."
Those kids that appear each week at the doors
of the schools they attend.
The knowledge that they will be benefitting by virtue of her efforts
The details of what she prepares for them to succeed,
academically and including in their lives.
She continues to work until the wee hours and falls asleep
on the sofa "for the kids."
