For those who would speculate

For those who would speculate if God exists,
I'd say Creation bears his signature,
In panoply of gold and amethysts,
And warming sun and evening's quiet stir,
In bird and bough and paint upon the door.

So small in Nature, man's the moving flame,
Connived from divine spark and lingering,
First insubstantial, then a form and name,
If brute is born, or valiant, interesting;
God makes the wonders - craft goes mongering.
