Forbidden Fruit

I finally met the real you
It was love at first sight
Even though I knew it was forbidden fruit
I had to take a bite
The poison set in slow
The taste was divine
It gave me false hope of a reality in which you could be mine
But now the poison has taken hold
The pain hurts so much
I'm feeling so cold
I want to scream for an antidote
Fight for this to live
Pour my soul out until there is nothing left to give
But I'm the one who took the bite
No one but my self to blame
I'm the one that chose this path and the road will never be the same
So I'll lie down quietly
Let the pain make me numb
I'll smile as I think of you
And wait for death to come
