In this forest
I'm standing
As still as the trees around me
These trees are so tall and breathtaking
Their roots so strong
Their leaves so vibrant
So inviting is the air around me
I could climb and explore these trees for hours
But as I step forward
I see the sun is setting
And taking the peace from the forest with it
I look at the trees again
And I flinch
Thorns slither around the roots and
The leaves have died and are being
Swept away by the sour wind
I want to run but i can't
I won't
So I walk forward
I should be afraid but it happens every night
And I know i can get through it
I know the only way out is to endure it all
We all know that
Because we all know we can't escape the forest that is
Our minds
