Forever Strong

Don't trust a stranger's hand.
They don't know your life, they won't understand.
That's what I've been taught.
My trust is not something to be bought.
It can't be earned either.
Hold it tight to myself. I'm my only believer.
I've tried to be forthcoming in the past.
Needless to say, it didn't last.
Deaf ears
Breed deaf cheers.
Stow it away for a rainy day.
Deal with it myself, it's always the same.
I am strong that's all you know.
You don't care about the things I don't show.
Put it in a box, throw it away.
Who cares, just don't send it your way.
It's been so long I can't even let it out.
I'm too afraid to show you what it's all about.
You wouldn't approve.
I know that to be the truest of truths.
So let's just keep pretending my smile is real
&what you see is what I feel.
Your conscience is clear and that's all that matters
Everything else is a non-factor.
All you need to know is I am strong.
You weren't wrong.
I am forever strong.
