Forgetting

When I saw your eyes, it was like a beacon,
Blinking and blinking, it's you I was seekin'.
I see you run with such grace, knees weaken,
But into another man's arms, heart sinkin'.

Day after day, my heart sinks deeper,
Just like a sinking submarine blinker.
I keep trying to focus on a career,
And steer way clear, leavin' you in my rearview mirror.

I wish my brain could just delete
That first time we did meet.
I need to start over with a clean sheet.
Can I return this unused love with a receipt?
