Forgive Them

It was not an enemy that made me cry
Nor even my haters that cause my dreams to die
Twas a friend, one in whom I gave my best
They stole my peace and took my rest

Lord, let this bitter cup from me pass
Give me strength so I can last
Meet me in the garden of Prayer
So, I can forgive them there

Down my face the tears run
This pain feels like the burning sun
I pray once twice, even three times a day
Forgive them Lord is what I say
Still the days are long in this place
And the nights don't fill this empty space

Let faith and hope my company be
While your tender love surronds me
But if to the cross I must go
Show me the way Lord, I don't know

The walk to the cross is a hard and long task
But with each step, make it brighter than the last
Though it seems my visions and dreams are now just a hymn
When I get there Lord, Please help me to forgive them
