Fountains of Hope

Fountains of hope spring from me
streams of sweet destiny
Euphoric, complete ecstasy
Life after life.
In my sin I drew my bucket empty
waters never to flow from me
Wells run dry
when filled with a lie
Death after death.
God spews out lukewarm water
I cannot be two gods' daughter
I must choose one or the other
just as a child has only one mother
Oh, how I thirst
to serve the God of this universe
Denying the god of this earth
drowning out life at birth
I quench.
Baptismal waters of everlasting life
never to look back as did Lot's wife
Man cannot live off bread alone
waters are drawn from this heart of stone
I am no longer the walking dead
choosing to live through Christ instead
Fountains of hope spring from me
life after death eternally
