Freedom

She was a renter in her own flesh
House empty
though she subsidized
the company's dream
Her's was somewhere across
the water

She could see the place
without binnoculars
All she had to do was
swim

It was safer to suffer
than to risk the tide
possibly wade
possibly
backstroke her way
toward freedom
