Freedom Is Not Free

I can't look through your eyes and see what you see.
Because you are you and I am me.
Maybe when I was born, I could see what you see.
But then the world taught me to be me.
Your skin is light and mine is dark.
Your eyes are blue and mine are brown.
I can't possibly see what you see.
You hear promise and I hear hope.
You feel privileged and I feel deprived.
You took this Country by any means necessary.
I am still trying to overcome.
We built this Country for free.
Our children are still paying for it with their lives.
I can't possibly see what you see.
You see, freedom is not free until I can see what you see.
