Freedom Is Not Free

Freedom is not free.
There is a price to be paid for liberty.
The men at Valley Forge did know,
a great sacrifice they sowed.
With bloody, bare feet they trudged through the cold, wet snow;
hungry, tired, and sick with thin tattered clothes.
They drew upon their faith in Him.
The one who had died for their freedom.
Led by a leader, oh so brave;
a life of sacrificial service gave.
So that their posterity to follow them,
might be free countrymen.
My heart was grieved today,
thinking of the many and all they gave.
The freedoms we all possess,
and the prevalent attitudes of ungratefulness.
By the many who believe their rights to be;
what it is all about, without any responsibility.
May we never forget the sacrifice made.
For our lives and our country;
a price had to be paid.
