Friendships and Felonies

I wonder if she will ever see
The phantom chasing her isn’t me
Will truth really win out in the end,
Or become another text to send?

I value honesty above all
Why I haven’t built a single wall
I always knew that I would get hurt
And yet, I rely on my mouth’s worth

Kicked me while I was at my lowest
She was the liar no one noticed
Led them to strip my reputation
Leaving me without explanation

Lost a friend to gain an enemy
Lies spread 'til accused of felony
She cried wolf until they shot the sheep
That’s not even what steals me from sleep

She turned all our friends against me
Chained the anchor and sailed open sea
Some day I’ll close my eyes and forget
Won’t even remember that we met
