From Here to There

I see ice cream dripping off
the little hands of the future
cascading down to the pavement
that they will walk from here to there

I hear voices echoing around
childish giggles that will one day
become the very essence of humanity
that travel ear to ear from here to there

The treeless meadows are behind
ahead are the dense pathless woods
no wrong turns and no right ways
as little feet travel from here to there

Lessons lead to knowing in
the heads of little minds
little eyes are always watching
those who walk from here to there

I see ice cream dripping off
little hands of childish giggling minds
but we are always watching
From here to there it’s almost our time
