From The Heart

I broke my heart open
Onto the paper
With a stab of my pen
The pain and happiness stood together
Between you and me
I had nothing left
A desperate woman
A broken-hearted lover
An empty life
I had to start over
With nothing good to feel
I rushed to get that pen swerving
From the blood of my split-open heart
I paved new roads
As my pen wrote
I painted new paths to go up and down
These words are powerful
There’s no doubt about it
See them building ideas like construction workers
Arising feelings in the midst of sentences and questions
We’re all looking for something
But really the only thing we all face is dying
Even this poem has to face an ending
So I’m hoping to spread the love before our death dates
I want to change the broken hearts in the World too
You are not alone
Between you and me
I don’t think my words are all that great
But my ugliest parts
People seem to love anyway
