From the Sidelines

You observe the world turning,
despite all that is still
Everyone is immersed in movement,
but somehow it’s against your will
Like busy bees in the garden,
no one slows down and aligns
And you can’t help but watch,
from the sidelines

Emerging from youth,
maturity takes its hold
Changing and leaving you behind,
with nothing to control
The earth seemed so beautiful,
and truly sublime
But now you must enjoy it alone,
from the sidelines

Oh how it’s so unjust,
and quite nefarious
But what can be done,
life is already an embarrassment
And as you enter back into reality,
in spite of all that feels confined
Just remember we are all spectators,
From the sidelines
