Geese

You have ancient friendships
that have lasted a lifetime,
and young friendships
that seem to have began a lifetime ago.
It's strange, how your relationships differ
between each person you meet.
You are serious with some friends.
Scholarly.
Appropriate.
Mature.
Yet completely childish with others.
Young.
Innocent.
Playful.
But there is certainly something to be said,
about the very first time
you spend a day with a new friend.
Acquaintance.
Pal.
Companion.
You don't quite know
exactly what they are like.
How they act outside of school,
where there is a lack of supervision.
Teachers.
Parents.
Elders.
Whether they are as funny as they seem.
If they are as joyous to be around,
as a new litter of cuddly puppies.
Kittens.
Rabbits.
Mice.
But I would venture to say,
that you, my dear,
exceeded all my expectations of wonderful.
I could spend day after day with you.
Actually.
